Invitation: Tingatinga book launch

Tingatinga is alive in Basle! On thursday, May 26th (6pm), we’ll have a book launch at the bookstore Bider & Tanner at Bankverein in Basle. The fairy tale was written by Agnes Mpata and painted by Issa Thabit, both artists working at Tingatinga Arts Co-operative Society (TACS) in Dar es Salaam/Tanzania. The book is written in English, German and Kiswahili. Angelika Brockhaus (Helvetas/www.tingatinga.ch) is the publisher of the book. Besides a welcome apéro, we’ll have a short lecture of the book.

After 2009 and 2010 FOCUS launches its third edition in June 2011. FOCUS11 is designed to present and connect the vibrant African art scene to the world. Conceived as a complement to Art Basel (June 15-19, 2011), FOCUS11 showcases a huge variety of artists and galleries.

In a relaxed and intimate atmosphere visitors of FOCUS11 will experience a huge variety of artistic production from the diverse scenes all over the African continent and from the African Diaspora.
